A new study led by Bastien Castagneyrol et al., titled "On the incidental exposure of the general public to invasive forest pests through mainstream media," has been published in Urban Forestry & Urban Greening.
This comprehensive study investigates mainstream media coverage as a strategic conduit for public awareness and early pest detection across Europe. By analysing over 16,000 media outputs spanning 15 European countries between 2011 and 2024, the research evaluates how 14 native, invasive alien non-regulated, and quarantine forest pests are communicated to the public.
