FREE3 Call for Applications is now open

27 January 2026

FREE3 is a one-year innovation project funded through a COST Innovators Grant, building directly on the outcomes of the UB3Guard COST Action. The project aims to translate existing research, tools, and practical experience into a concrete, open-access solution that supports urban tree managers and municipalities, particularly in small and medium-sized cities.

We have now opened calls for Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) and Virtual Mobility (VM) Grants. These calls are linked to specific Work Packages and address clearly defined tasks related to platform development, pilot testing, training, and communication.

All details, including topics, scope, eligibility criteria, and timelines, are provided in the attached PDF call document. The deadline for applications is 16 February, and we aim to announce funding decisions on 22 February.

If you work with urban trees, urban forestry, applied research, municipal practice, or knowledge transfer, we warmly encourage you to take a look and consider applying. You are also very welcome to share this announcement within your networks, as wider dissemination increases the chances of reaching strong and relevant candidates.

Do not hesitate to get in touch with the WP leads if you have any questions.
